The Westchester County Police Department announced that Chief Inspector Martin McGlynn has been named as the acting police commissioner, overseeing the department until a permanent commissioner is named “in the near future.”
McGlynn is a 42-year veteran, having started his career in January 1976 as a member of the Westchester County Sheriff’s Department, which merged to form the current department with Parkway Police three years later.
“Our acting commissioner has basically held every rank and done every job there is in the place, so we won’t list them all,” officials said when announcing the appointment. “Suffice to say he is an extremely accomplished professional, and we are in good hands indeed.”
